Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?

—1 Samuel 15:19

HOW ARE WE TO DEAL with someone who is floundering in spiritual stupidity? Ignorant souls only need knowledge. But the stupid already know what they should do; they lack the discretion to do it. How are we to respond to such a person?

Every case of stupidity recorded in the Bible is punished by God, so this is a serious matter. Notice how Samuel dealt with Saul. He said, “Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the Lord?” (v. 19). He acknowledged the fact that Saul knew what to do; so he held Saul accountable for it.

Disobedient individuals must be held accountable. God will reprove them. God will not tolerate sin!

Prayer Thought: O God, there are unreasonable souls in the church today. Help me to deal with them as You do.
