Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.
—Deuteronomy 1:8
DAVID SERVES AS A BIBLICAL type of what the Christian worker should be, especially in the way he wielded the giant’s sword to slay the enemies of his kingdom (1 Samuel 22). David used Goliath’s sword much like the Christian must use the sword of God’s Word. Hebrews 4:12 says,” For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Now it is quite obvious that if anyone except David had tried to use Goliath’s sword, God would not have blessed him. Likewise, if you are not a spiritual David and you try to use the sword, you will do far more harm to yourself than damage to the cause of the enemy.
When the saints use the Word of God, they do not damage themselves, nor hurt other souls; but they do great damage to the kingdom of the Devil and great benefit to the souls of men.
Prayer Thought: I need wisdom from You, O God, as I labor in the interest of winning souls for Christ.
