Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
—1 Corinthians 9:24
A PASSION FOR SOULS WILL COMPRESS all the energy of a Christian’s heart and brain and body into one consuming drive, night and day. It is a fiery, burning passion, as was characteristic of our Lord’s life, lives of the disciples, and the apostle Paul’s life.
“Ye are our reward,” Paul told the new converts. In that matchless apostle’s life, the consuming passion was for the converts, not the crowd! All the desire of Paul’s life was that Jesus Christ might have His way through them.
Discipling converts for Jesus Christ is the chief characteristic of a mature Christian!
Prayer Thought: O God, teach me how to be a “fisher of men,” not for vainglory, but for Your glory and their spiritual good.
