But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

HAVE WE LET JESUS CHRIST have His way with us in all things?

Many will pay attention to what God says until it gets to one certain thing, and then they refuse to listen. Herod, you will remember, listened to John’s preaching until that preacher declared, “It is not lawful for thee to have her” (Matthew 14:4). Instantly, Herod would hear no more.

I pray that we may indeed listen and be “good ground” to the Son of God. Then can He truly work out His plans, His will, and His way through us. Then can He truly make of us broken bread and poured out wine to needy people.

Oh, have you received the Word of God in salvation? In entire sanctification? In the daily leadings of your life? Have you the Word dwelling richly in your heart? If not, will you not meet God’s conditions and become “good ground” to the Son of God?

Prayer Thought: O God, lead me correctly in the way of righteousness.
