Deeper Life #198

I must work the works of him that sent me.

—John 9:4

OUR LORD SAID THAT HE never worked from His own initiative. He let God the Father do His work through Him, and He obeyed Him. Has your life been thoroughly given over to God? Or are you still striving to create joy and peace and happiness? If so, turn to God, and let Him do His work.

The joy of the Lord is not dependent on our feelings or our circumstances. It is dependent entirely on God’s acceptance of us as burnt offerings, wholly consecrated to Him.

Jesus mentions in John 15:16, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” May God grant it!

The lives of the saints are songs for God, composed and rendered by the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Prayer Thought: Have Your own way, Lord Jesus, and direct my pathways.
