Deeper Life #158

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

—Matthew 5:16

WHAT IS THE STANDARD OF success as a Christian? Do you know what spiritual success is? It is to be the “preserving salt” and “shining light” of the world, not losing your Christlike savor but preserving it in health.

God will continually use you as an exhibition of His way of life, but you will not be conscious of it. You won’t make that your conscious motive. You won’t be thinking that “I have to walk just that way and look just like this,” or show what a magnificent specimen God can make of a man or woman. When you think like that, you are in danger of degeneration.

Do you seek success? Then let God work through you. Allow Him to possess you fully. The advantage is a successful journey to heaven. The light of His Word will show you the way!

Prayer Thought: With You, Lord, I can be successful. Without You, I would be a miserable failure.
