Deeper Life #152
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
—John 15:18
BEARING THE FAMILY LIKENESS OF our Lord will enable others to know beyond doubt that we have been with Jesus. The line of demarcation between the world and the saint is at the line of death—to this world. The saint is spoiled for this world and no longer shares the aims and ambitions of the world.
The saint, in short, bears the marks of unworldliness while in this world. He bears the evidence of a readjusted individuality.
The people who say, “Oh, I am no saint,” try to pass as modest, ordinary people among their peers. But such a statement means, “I do not care what Jesus Christ and the atonement can do.” To be “no saint” means that one is a proud sinner.
Prayer Thought: O God, I truly desire that Your power will enable others to see Christ in me.
