Yield To God

Yield To God

He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

1 Thessalonians 5:24

Pastors and ministers struggle with the temptation to get “stressed out” as much as any other Christian. Sometimes I can let the expectations of the members of my church become so many separate circles of responsibility that I begin to be stressed about meeting all those expectations. Pastors are expected to visit everyone who goes to the hospital, counsel everyone who has a problem, go to see every new visitor, and preach dynamic messages three or four times each week. Any pastor who tries to do all those things will find himself burned out in a matter of weeks, months, or years—and many have.

The only way I survive as a pastor of a large church is to know that the very best thing I can do for our church is to do the will of God. God loves each person in our church, and I know if I am following His plan and will for me, the congregation’s needs will be met. I constantly have to bring myself back under His authority and learn from Him how to stay focused on His will for my life.
