Who’s Your Teacher?

Who’s Your Teacher?

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things.

John 14:26

A graduate engineer worked in his field for a number of years and then served in a ministry vocation for nearly a decade. Returning to his previous career as an electrical engineer with a leading electronics company, he found himself woefully behind the technical curve.

Because of his absence, he felt like he was starting over as an engineer. It would have been nice for him to have a tutor accompany him throughout his absence from the engineering arena, teaching him and keeping him up-to-date. Nice, but impractical.

Having such a tutor is not impractical for the Christian. God has given us a full-time teacher to live with us twenty-four hours a day, keeping us up-to-date on “the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

That teacher is, of course, the Holy Spirit, sent by God to open the spiritual eyes and ears of every believer, to educate us about the kingdom of God, and to give us the mind of Christ. No believer should ever lack the wisdom and knowledge of God.

The Teacher is always ready. The question is whether we have taken our seat and opened our Book.
