The Locket Of Your Heart

The Locket Of Your Heart

Teach me your way, O LORD; and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.

Psalm 86:11 NIV

A young woman in England always wore a golden locket that she would not allow anyone to open or look into. Everyone thought there must be some romance connected with the locket, and within the locket must be a picture of the one she loved. After the woman died, someone opened the locket and found a little slip of paper with these words written upon it: “Whom having not seen, I love.” Her Lord Jesus was the only lover she knew and the only lover she longed for.

This woman was wholeheartedly devoted to Christ. She exemplifies the kind of devotion God desires from each of us in worship. He wants us to worship Him with our whole heart, with our minds focused solely on Him. In a world that aggressively competes for our affections, we must make a deliberate effort to keep God first.

If someone were to open the locket of your heart, what or who would they find there? Has your devotion to God been replaced by other affections? By money? Sports? Success? A relationship? Today, take time to pray and ask God to give you an undivided heart.
