Rest In The Lord
Rest In The Lord
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him.
Psalm 37:7
What does it mean to rest in the Lord? Let me use a familiar illustration. When you enter your church on Sunday morning and go to a particular pew or chair to take your seat, you probably do not give one second’s thought to whether that pew or chair is going to hold your weight when you sit on it. Why is that? Simply because you have grown accustomed to the fact that you do not have to worry about the seats holding your weight. Week after week, the seats in your church have been found faithful. At some point, those seats passed the test in your mind, and you have never given them another thought.
You can develop the same kind of confidence in God. By trusting and delighting in Him, you can learn to rest in Him as well. With each problem that arises, you can exercise confidence that He will be faithful to meet your needs. You, by resting, will be unmovable in your place of faith because day after day, week after week, year after year, you have entered into His presence and given over to Him the cares of your life.
