Get Back To Work

[Peter] said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”

John 21:15

Peter blundered a lot, but he passionately loved Christ; and in the end, that made the difference. Like Peter, we all have a set of personal regrets. All of us would do things differently if we could relive life, but we can’t change the past. Instead, the Lord tells us to confess our sins, accept His forgiveness, and learn from our blunders.

There’s a well-known story of an employee who made a mistake that cost his company a million dollars. His boss called him in, saying, “I’m not going to fire you, for I’ve just invested a million dollars in you. The secret of making a million dollars instead of losing a million dollars is making good decisions. And the secret to good decisions is learning from bad ones. Now get back to work!”

That was Jesus’ approach to Peter—and to us as well. If you’re suffering a load of regret, confess your sins to God. Trust His pardon to wash away the guilt, and depend on His providence to bring good out of bad. Like Peter, passionately love Christ and learn from your mistakes.
