Do Not Seek Revenge

Repay no one evil for evil.

Romans 12:17

If you are seeking revenge, you have just opened your whole heart for Satan and his demons to take control of your life. Romans 12:17–21 teaches us what we are to do when we are tempted to revenge: “Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord. Therefore, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”

The Bible teaches that if we seek revenge, we are violating the principles of God and setting ourselves up for the control of Satan in our lives. When Jesus was under attack, He did not respond or seek to get even. He held Himself under control by the Spirit of God, and He serves as an example for all of us.
