Christian, Never Give Up!

Christian, Never Give Up!

I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:14

In one of many attempts to scale Mount Everest before the successful climb in 1953, a team of mountain climbers made a final dash for the summit. Their courageous attempt failed and today they lie buried somewhere in the eternal snow. One of the party, who had stayed below when the final ascent was attempted, returned to London. One day as he was giving a lecture on mountain climbing, he stood before a magnificent picture of Mount Everest. As he concluded his address, he turned around and, addressing the mountain, he said, “We have tried to conquer you and failed; we tried again and you beat us; but we shall beat you, for you cannot grow bigger, but we can.”

Just as a true mountain climber can never give up as long as there is still an unconquered peak, so Paul could not let the Philippian believers give up until they had reached maturity. His challenge to them was to keep on walking, keep on growing, keep on climbing until they reached their potential in Christ.
