Change Is Good
Change Is Good
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
John Wesley described his revelatory conversion to Christ this way: “In the evening I went very unwillingly to a society in Aldersgate Street where one was reading Luther’s preface to the Epistle to the Romans. . . . While he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation.”
Notice what caught Wesley’s attention: the change that comes through genuine conversion. Wesley realized he had been devoutly religious but had never been changed. But after that night, John Wesley became a different person, changing his world through the power and person of Christ living in his heart.
Abraham and Sarah had to learn this lesson as well. They wanted to live in the past, walking by sight; but God wanted them to walk by faith. Have you experienced the changed life that only comes with knowing Christ? No one can meet Christ and stay the same; the old life is nothing like the new.
Conversion is one instance in which change is not only good; it’s required.
