Daily Power #66

As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (Ps. 103:12)

When I became a pastor, I quickly discovered that many people struggle to grow in their faith because they feel paralyzed by shame. Some are ashamed of their poor financial condition, plagued with guilt about their irresponsible spending and debt. Others carry shame about sexual sin from their past. Many drag shame with them into their future relationships. Countless others remain crippled by their shame over secret addictions.

Many years ago, our church built the website www.mysecret.tv, where people could anonymously confess to anything and invite others to pray for them. The response blew me away. Many of the gut-wrenchingly honest confessions broke my heart as thousands of people poured out their anguish, pain, and shame. So many lives had clearly been shattered and shackled by the power of shame.

But Jesus came to crush shame. No matter what you’ve done or the secrets you’re keeping, God can set you free. When we confess our sins to him, we are forgiven. We don’t have to carry the burden of our past mistakes any longer.

Christ has set you free. Once you make him the Lord of your life, there is no condemnation anymore. Today you can stand strong in God’s grace, knowing that shame has no power over you.

Power Lift

It’s so hard sometimes, Lord, to understand how you can forgive me for all the things I’ve done. Today protect me from the accusations of the Enemy and remind me of the security of my salvation in Christ Jesus.
