Daily Power #358

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. (Luke 2:16)

If there is any window of time during the year when all seems right to me, it’s Christmas Eve. Maybe it’s because the hustle and bustle of shopping is finally done. Perhaps it’s because all the Christmas cooking is complete. Maybe it’s because there’s always something special about Christmas Eve church services. Singing the same classic Christmas tunes brings joy to the world. Maybe it’s because for the next twenty-four hours, few people are working. Most get to enjoy their families. Whatever it is, that short burst of time is one of my favorite moments each year.

On the day before the day we celebrate the birth of Christ, take a moment to consider all Christ has done for you. Count your blessings. And when you think you are finished, count some more. Don’t just stop with your health, your friends, your family, where you live, what you have. Also think about your spiritual blessings. Take note of the joy of salvation, knowing that you are saved by grace. Note the times God has spoken to you. Remember the sins he has forgiven.

As you continue taking count of his goodness, remember the blessings of the Holy Spirit. The spirit comforts, convicts, corrects, and guides. No matter what you do, God is always with you. He never leaves you. He will never forsake you. Even when you are not faithful, God is. He can’t be anything else.

Remember, all the good things you have exist because of all that Christ endured for you. Now enjoy the moment. Embrace it. God is with you.

Power Lift

Dear God, I want to pause for a moment and give you glory, honor, and praise. You have blessed me in so many ways this year. Thank you, Lord.
