Daily Power #349
Daily Power #349
But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (Isa. 40:31 ESV)
One of my favorite childhood Christmas memories was the daily Advent Christmas calendar. If you never had one, each day there was a small flap on the calendar that we could open to see a cool picture or image on the other side. The image might be a candle, a star, a manger, or a gift. Along with each image, we had a small devotional to read that pointed us to the birth of Christ.
Each day, my sister, Lisa, and I would anticipate opening the flap to see what that day represented. And each day we felt a small sense of delight and satisfaction. Once we experienced the small blessing of the day, we couldn’t wait to see what was behind the flap the next day.
As Christmas Day approaches, what if you looked for small glimpses of Christ in every day? If you look for him, I promise you will find him. You might see him in your daily reading plan. You might see an act of kindness that reminds you of his grace. You could see someone serving another person, reminding you that Jesus came not to be served, but to serve this world with his love.
Anticipate seeing Christ today. Ask God for eyes to see where he is working, ears to hear his voice, and a heart moved by the things that move his. Each day is a gift from above. And each day is an opportunity to know our Savior better.
Look for Jesus today. When you seek him, you will find him.

Jesus, reveal yourself to me today as I go about my familiar routines. Help me notice where you are present and at work in others’ lives.
