Daily Power #280

Daily Power #280

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints. (Eph. 6:18 NASB)

Early in my relationship with God, I wanted to pray for others but wasn’t always sure how. Then I heard someone offer a small idea that helped me experience a massive prayer breakthrough. My friend simply suggested that I ask God who to pray for. And then ask God to guide me in prayer. That was it. Who? And then What?

So I tried. I found a quiet place where I wouldn’t be distracted and told God that I wanted to seek him and pray for some people, but I didn’t know who needed his touch or presence. Within a split second, a close friend from high school that I hadn’t seen in over two years popped into my mind. Then I asked God, “What should I pray?” Immediately, I began praying that my friend would be drawn closer to God.

Wrapping up, I then had another person pop into mind: a lady I had worked with in years past. So I prayed for her and for her family and for her marriage, which I knew had been strained for some time.

While I normally find it difficult to pray for five minutes without being distracted, that day more than a half hour flew by before I knew what had happened.

Today spend some time with God. Ask him “Who?” and “What?” and then start praying.
