Daily Power #231

Daily Power #231

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” (Gen. 50:20)

The first time I visited Australia, I couldn’t wait to try out an authentic boomerang. Originally a hunting weapon of the indigenous Aboriginal people, boomerangs also became popular as a toy and a souvenir from a trip Down Under. So when I held that L-shaped piece of carved wood in my hand, I was curious to see if it could really be thrown so that it would return back to me. With the help of an expert guide, I saw that boomerang whiz through the air and come back to us.

Others like to call it “karma,” but the Bible makes it clear that what we give to others affects what we end up receiving for ourselves. While other people can intend to harm us, God protects us and transforms our suffering into Christ’s glory, reversing the outcome expected by those who harmed us. We’re never going to enjoy experiencing pain, disappointment, and rejection, but we’re comforted knowing that they won’t destroy us.

God uses everything—even the devastatingly hard moments—to strengthen, equip, and transform all that comes our way. Even when life throws you a curve ball, you can trust that God will turn it into a boomerang and use it for our good.

Power Lift
