Daily Power #223

Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced. (1 Chron. 16:12)

Unfortunately, God doesn’t always do exactly what we hope he will do, does he? For every miraculous air-conditioning miracle, I know as many or more stories of prayers that seem to go unanswered.

Even as I’m writing this, I still pray every day for my daughter’s knee. Almost three years ago, she went to find one of her siblings in class at church and she slipped on a wet floor. This simple accident caused more pain and heartache than we could have ever predicted.

My once passionate dancer suddenly had to stop pursuing her dream—without knowing if it will ever return. After consulting with the best doctors, trying surgery and the latest treatments, spending countless hours and dollars in physical therapy, and praying more prayers than a Cubs fan, Anna still has pain in her knee.

Seemingly unanswered prayers might make you somewhat unsure of God’s presence, his power, or his involvement. But just because you don’t see him doesn’t mean that he’s not there. Just because he doesn’t do what you want doesn’t mean that he doesn’t care. And just because you don’t understand the plan doesn’t mean that God doesn’t have a purpose.

If you are facing something you don’t understand, choose to trust God. Remember all he has done for you. His ways are higher than our ways. And he is always good.

Dear God, some things in my life just don’t make sense right now. But I trust you and know your heart. You are a good God and all good things come from you.
