Daily Power #100

Daily Power #100

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. (Ps. 68:19)

Back when my children were toddlers, they loved for me to carry them—to and from the car, in the mall, at church, whenever they felt tired or wanted to be close to dear old dad. And I loved it too. At least, for the first few minutes—and the first few kids! With six growing kids, it was more of a workout than going to the gym.

Maybe you’ve carried a child in your arms for a long time, or a heavy backpack, or several grocery bags. Remember how good it feels when you can finally set down whatever you’re carrying? Your arms tingle, your back straightens, and you can breathe again. Perhaps you’ve carried a heavy load and had someone come along to lighten it, to lend a hand or share your work.

When we ask him to, God will provide that same relief every day. From the list of worries we continually seem to carry to the new items we’ll add today, our Father can lift them all. There’s no need to strain, strive, and struggle alone. With his power, sovereignty, and wisdom, God knows exactly how to relieve us of those things, big and small, that weigh on us.

Today you can rest in the knowledge that God bears your burdens.

Power Lift

Lord, sometimes I feel so weighed down by my life. Thanks for the ways you will bear my burdens and lighten my load today.
