For Uplifting Political Leaders

For Uplifting Political Leaders

WHAT WOULD YOU DO if the president of the United States showed up for prayer? Would you welcome him (or her), or would you pray grudgingly? One day, the president paid a surprise visit to a church in Virginia, and some members didn’t want him there. Ironically, it was a day set aside to pray for the president.

In the Kingdom of God, there is no distinction between Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives. There’s one body—focused on one Kingdom agenda. In fact, the Bible teaches that a nation’s strength is rooted in the united prayers of the righteous. The Lord said, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven . . . and restore their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

As one body, we must offer the sacrifice of wholehearted prayer—even when our political leaders seem undeserving. “Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them” (1 Timothy 2:1).

STRENGTH IN THE WORD

Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority.

1 Timothy 2:2

TODAY I DECLARE

Praying for our leaders is my honor and duty.

PRAYERFUL THOUGHTS

Dear Lord,

I can’t promise to agree with every political leader—but with a genuine and loving heart, I’ll cover them in prayer. Please give our commander in chief the wisdom to make the right decisions—and shield our leader’s health and family. Also, guide our legislature, keep our nation safe, and shape the decisions in our courts. May true justice always prevail, and may we faithfully place our trust in you.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

KEEPSAKE
