For Benefiting From Rejection
For Benefiting from Rejection
REJECTION CAN BE BOTH PAINFUL AND EMBARRASSING, but there are many interesting things about it. For one, it’s universal. At some point in our lives, we’ll all feel the sting of rejection. Oddly, the most exclusive journal in the world is called the Journal of Universal Rejection. No matter the quality of work, or who submits an article, everyone gets rejected.
It’s time for us to view rejection differently, because it’s a helpful part of the human experience. It thickens our skin, unveils our purpose, and leads us onto the right path. The Bible is full of extraordinary people who were rejected in some form or fashion: Jesus, David, Joseph, Hannah . . . yet rejection paved the way to their purpose. First Peter 2:4 states, “[Though Jesus] was rejected by people, . . . he was chosen by God for great honor.”
I know that it might not feel this way, but rejection is for your good. Yes, pray for strength to move beyond your pain, but give thanks—because rejection is benefiting you.
STRENGTH IN THE WORD
The LORD has made everything for its purpose.
TODAY I DECLARE
This experience will not crush me.
PRAYERFUL THOUGHTS
Dear Lord,
Because my life is blessed and guided by you, I give thanks for this rejection. Does it feel good? No, absolutely not. But somehow I trust that you’ll use this experience to benefit me.
Psalm 37:23 encourages, “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” So strengthen my heart and help me move past this pain, while you turn this rejection into a blessing.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
KEEPSAKE
