You Can Be Still

You Can Be Still

Breathe Deep and Know: You can hush the hurry and be still because God is God and this life He gave you is a gift. Slow down and enjoy it today.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the pace of the world around us, rushing to the next place without any time to pause and breathe. We keep ourselves busy and stay pretty distracted with activities, plans, commitments, and full schedules. We fill our calendars and over-stuff our to-do lists with tasks that seem to never really end. The pace of it all can make us dizzy, reeling from the spin of this life, from the cycle of days with no real time to rest.

I invite you today to slow down and be still. Take even just five minutes to stop everything, still your body and mind, breathe deeply, and focus on one truth:

God is God. You are not God. I am not God. God is the only God. And He is in control.

The world will not stop if we slow down. As Ann Voskamp says, “Life is not an emergency. . . . Life is a gift.”a Every day of this life is a gift from the One who made us and loves us and wants so much more for us than a life of busy rushing. Be still today and know that He is God.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Psalm 46:10

inhale:

Still my soul;

exhale:

You are God.
