God Is Your Hope When You’re Discouraged
God Is Your Hope When You’re Discouraged
Breathe Deep and Know: Discouragement is an opportunity to remember God, to remember all that He has done, and to remind your soul that He isn’t finished yet.
Sometimes it seems like the world around me is dancing and I can’t hear the song. Everyone else appears to be moving right along in a quick choreography of a happy life, and I haven’t been given any choreography at all. In the dark seasons of my soul, the slow cadence of suffering is the rhythm of my days. Maybe those of you with chronic pain or mental health conditions can relate. It is so easy to become discouraged when the suffering lingers or the hurt is slow to heal, when prayers for healing aren’t answered the way we want them to be.
That’s when we remember God. We remember His presence, His goodness, His love. We train our minds to turn to Him. And when the brutal beat of discouragement drums on, we remember that He holds us through every stanza of suffering until a chorus of victory breaks through. God is still writing your story, and nothing is wasted—it is all working together into a beautiful composition that will ultimately sing of His goodness and glory.
My God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you.
Psalm 42:6
