God Covers You

God Covers You

Breathe Deep and Know: God is covering you in His feathers of faithful love today.

At first glance, feathers may not seem like all that much protection. They seem soft and rather fragile. But a bird’s feathers are remarkably designed to both comfort and protect.

Feathers have a smooth part and a fluffy part. The smooth part acts as a sort of raincoat, protecting against wind and rain, and the fluffy part, the down, insulates and keeps a bird warm. Young birds don’t yet have fully developed feathers, so they require the protection of a parent’s wings to keep them safe and warm through storms and the cold of the night.

If you’ve ever watched a bird covering its young with its wings, you’ll notice that they can sit unmovable for hours on end, as long as it takes, as long as the storm lasts, as long as the babies need protection. Nothing distracts or deters them. They are immovable, firm, steadfast, fixed in place.

In the same way, God’s faithful love and promises are never wavering, always true. You are shielded and protected, safe and warm beneath your Father’s wings.

He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

Psalm 91:4
