All Goodness Comes From God

All Goodness Comes From God

Breathe Deep and Know: All the good in your life is from God. You can trust His sovereign love for you.

Take a minute to acknowledge your complete dependence on God.

Does it bring you comfort or anxiety when you think about God’s sovereignty? Do you feel joy or fear at the thought of being dependent on Him for every good thing in your life? Most of us tend to want some level of control—we want to plan and dictate how our days will go and what the outcomes will be. Deep down (whether we realize it or not), we believe that if we work hard enough or do enough good things, then blessings will come to us. If that doesn’t happen, or if the circumstances in our lives are out of our control, anxiety, fear, and worry can fill our minds.

But if we recognize that, all along, God is the one in control, and if we trust that He is good and that He loves us, we can let go of that desperate need to control everything, and we can have peace no matter what comes our way.

All of life becomes an opportunity for joy when we see every bit of it as a gift from our good and loving God.

I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”

Psalm 16:2 ESV
