Emotions
Emotions
Few things feel better than a deep belly laugh or a cleansing, refreshing cry. Emotions are nothing to suppress or fear, but we don’t want to be controlled by them either. If you’re like me, there are days when you experience every emotion imaginable between breakfast and bedtime. The Bible reminds us that Jesus was tempted in all the same ways that we are. If you’re riding one of those emotional roller coasters right now, remember that Jesus understands. He turned to God for help, setting the example for the rest of us. Instead of being ruled by our emotions, let’s ask God to help us stay in control of them. Through the gracious and generous help of the Holy Spirit, our emotions can be both embraced and enjoyed.
WHEN YOU NEED TO REMEMBER THAT EMOTIONS ARE NOT THE BOSS OF YOU . . .
Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.
Do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.
WHEN YOU NEED TO REMEMBER THAT THIS LIFE IS SHORT . . .
Our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
