Depression

Depression

Depression affects most women at some point in their lives. I know about this battle firsthand, as I’ve had my own struggle to get out of the pit of anxiety. So hear me—it’s not a sin to talk to your physician or to use a prescription to help if that’s what’s needed. But we also need to seek the help of the Great Physician. God’s healing is real—and His perspective is necessary for every kind of healing. Are you feeling depressed? Meditate on God’s Word! Turn up the worship music! Turn your sorrow into praise. Look heavenward with me, sweet mom, and let’s declare together that God’s plans for us and for our children are good. Let’s sing out loud of His healing and of the hope we have because of Jesus. No, it’s not a case of “positive thinking” but a decision to choose joy and refuse to be defined by our suffering. Jesus has made a way. Let’s walk in it!

WHEN YOU’RE STRUGGLING WITH YOUR THOUGHTS . . .

Dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Philippians 4:8

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

Colossians 3:1-2

WHEN SADNESS OVERWHELMS YOU . . .

Why am I discouraged?

Why is my heart so sad?

I will put my hope in God!

I will praise him again—

my Savior and my God!

Psalm 42:11
