Beautiful Word Devotional #89
Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.
Nehemiah 4:14
When this Scripture was penned, the Israelites were in the process of reclaiming Jerusalem, but their beloved city was without a protective wall. Imagine the fear they felt as enemies surrounded them. God’s promise to them in that situation was simply this: he is awesome, and they should fight.
What battles do you face today? What “enemies” have surrounded you? Remember, nothing is too hard for God. He sees your fight, he understands your worries, and he recognizes the difficulties you face.
So, instead of despairing about what you may face today, turn afresh to God. Remember his faithfulness to you in the past. Write down details that will remind you of his great power. Stand fully in awe of him. Trust that he has everything—including your family—in his loving hands.
The truth is, you are never alone in your battles. God sees, and he will help.
Lord, sometimes my problems feel like giant battles. Help me run to you in the midst of them, for you are strong and mighty, amen.
