Beautiful Word Devotional #37

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:14

It’s easy to look at someone else and see how fearfully, wonderfully, and beautifully God made her! We know “full well” that he did excellent work when he made . . . other people.

But when you look in the mirror, do you believe you are “fearfully and wonderfully made,” lovingly crafted by your Creator? Do you believe he delights in you and thinks you are wonderful? Believing that you are beautifully crafted by your loving God is very difficult. After all, our culture pushes hard against this thought.

Thanks to our culture’s various media, we easily see our flaws. We notice wrinkles before anyone else does. We can’t seem to help comparing ourselves to people in our lives and photos on grocery-store magazine covers.

The truth is, you are beautiful. God created you. He loves you. He cherishes you. And he is saddened when you are down on yourself or criticize your looks. But you can bring him great joy when you accept your great worth in his sight.

Lord, please help me know “full well” that I am beautiful, amen.
