Beautiful Word Devotional #355
Beautiful Word Devotional #355
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1
Why does it matter that Jesus was with God in the beginning and that Jesus is God? This statement matters because it teaches that Jesus is one member of the Trinity, of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It matters because Jesus, who saved us all from our sins, also took part in creating our world.
Jesus is called “the Word,” which means he is God’s message to all of us. He represents and communicates everything we need to know about God’s heart. And as he walked the earth, Jesus showed us what it means to love others. Jesus gave us not only words to live by, but also a life to pattern ours after.
Now, if you ever wonder whether Jesus cares about you, whether he notices you as you struggle, consider this: he left the beauty of heaven in order to communicate to you his love. He is indeed the best Word you could ever hope for.
Jesus, thank you for being the Word, for communicating so remarkably on that cross your love for me, amen.
