Beautiful Word Devotional #348

“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

John 6:35

We have an insatiable thirst and desperate hunger that the world can never satisfy. Even when we fulfill a dream, or reach a goal, or find that relationship we’ve always wanted, we still find ourselves hungry and thirsty.

And here’s why: God designed us to find our true and complete satisfaction in him. He designed us so that our appetites can be satiated only by him. If we pursue other things (even good things), we will finish the pursuit hungrier than when we started.

How do we escape this cycle of chasing after things that will never satisfy? We run instead to Jesus. He is the bread of life. He alone can satisfy and sustain our souls. He is the source of living water that completely quenches our thirst.

Are you hungry? Needy? Unfulfilled? Thirsty for something? The world doesn’t have anything to help you. The answer is Jesus Christ. When you choose to follow after him, you’ll finally know soul satisfaction and peace.

Lord, forgive me for chasing things and people that don’t satisfy. I choose you today, amen.
