Beautiful Word Devotional #340

“ ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Revelation 21:4

As our physical bodies become less comfortable and less able, we groan for redemption. As we age, we also experience more and more heartache. After decades on this sin-filled planet, we long for everything to be made right, for our suffering to make sense, and for us to be reunited with those who have gone before us to heaven. We have these yearnings according to the design of our Creator God.

God created us for himself; he created us to be in relationship with him. By his Spirit, he walks with us every step we take, he feels our every heartache, and he experiences with us every loss that comes. His compassion sustains us, as does the truth that in heaven we will look into Jesus’ face and see in his eyes his great love for us. The anguish of life will slough off. We will know the joy of heaven where crying and pain will no longer exist. Come quickly, Lord.

Lord, I’m so grateful that I’ll be whole someday, amen.
