“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
Isaiah 1:18
This image comes in Isaiah’s prophecy of a time when the sins of the human race would yet be atoned for by One who was sinless, pure, and unmarred by corruption. The prophet aptly described our sins as scarlet, the color of fresh blood, of the spilled blood of Jesus that meant forgiveness of our sins and a cleansing that would leave us “white as snow.”
Jesus bled and died for our sakes, so we could enter into a relationship with God. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Because of this amazing act of love and grace, we no longer need to try to earn our way into God’s presence or prove our worth in his sight. God has already declared us clean and welcomed us as his children. What beauty comes from knowing that the holy God sees us as worth loving! And he sees us that way because, acting in love, Jesus gave himself as a sacrifice, once and for all, for our sins.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Lord Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins, that I may be cleansed of them. I am humbled and grateful, amen.
