Beautiful Word Devotional #250

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Galatians 5:22–23

Read over this list of the fruit of the Spirit again, this time considering the impact each one could have on our relationships. After all, these gifts aren’t best experienced in isolation. In fact, some are experienced only in community.

It’s also important to notice that these Christlike qualities are ours for the asking. Since we who follow Jesus have the Holy Spirit within us, then these qualities are ours through him—and they are ours to live out in our relationships with others.

Take a minute to look back over your life. Are you more patient with people than you were five years ago? Are you kinder to family members who bother you? Do you keep your word and faithfully carry out your promises? If so, then you are growing in Christlikeness. If, however, you realize you’re not seeing growth, ask God for a reset. Press into him, asking him to transform your character and make you more like Jesus.

Lord, I’m grateful for these gifts. Continue to grow them in me so that you may be reflected in my interactions with others, amen.
