Beautiful Word Devotional #237

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Psalm 16:11

What rich encouragement the psalmist’s words offer us, especially those of us who are struggling.

First, the psalmist states that God will make known the path of life—the path of purpose and hope, forgiveness and redemption, new beginnings and eternal significance. God loves to help you revise the story of your life; he takes your brokenness, repairs your soul, and sets your feet on a straight path, on his path for your good and his glory.

God will also give you joy in his presence. Simply sit quietly and listen for his voice. Invite him to make his presence with you known. Joy will come in those quiet moments of reflection, especially as you begin to thank God for all the things he has done for you.

Finally, the pleasures God blesses you with are eternal. They are not trivial or temporary. And that is yet another reason you can sing for joy today.

Lord, I want to follow your path and know joy in your presence today and always, amen.
