Beautiful Word Devotional #215
The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.
Genesis 39:23
Joseph foreshadowed the One who was to come: Jesus Christ. Joseph was an archetype of a suffering servant. At the same time, Joseph was a living, breathing man who grieved and sweat and hurt and rejoiced. The hallmark of Joseph’s life was the fact that God was with him.
Joseph was a man of integrity, but—according to God’s plan—he found himself in all kinds of tough situations. Each time and in his own timing, God intervened for Joseph. God did prosper him—but he didn’t protect or immediately deliver Joseph from various trials.
All these trials, though, were seasons of growth for Joseph. The bravado he had as a youth morphed into steady faithfulness to God and genuine humility.
Whatever hardships you encounter, may you—like Joseph—stay faithful to God and confident that he intends those hardships for ultimate good.
Lord, in the midst of my trials today, I choose to trust that you have everything under control, amen.
