Beautiful Word Devotional #200
Beautiful Word Devotional #200
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
Jeremiah 17:9
It’s not exactly a beautiful devotional thought that our hearts are wicked and beyond repair. But consider Jeremiah’s question: “Who can understand it?” The answer is God, and that is a beautiful thought. God understands the broken and wicked heart, and he has from the beginning of man’s waywardness back in the garden of Eden. Adam and Eve knew they had sinned. Little did they know that their choice to follow their wishes rather than God’s command would usher in an age of wickedness and sin.
Yet God had a plan for dealing with the wicked heart of mankind and, at the same time, restoring humanity’s relationship with him. God sent his Son to earth to carry to the cross every deceitful heart.
Without Jesus’ death and resurrection we are beyond cure. But hallelujah! He is risen! There is a cure for our deceitful hearts.
Lord, I’m grateful that you chose to remedy my sinful and wandering heart. Please help me walk with you in gratitude and with a heart you have changed, amen.
