Beautiful Word Devotional #194

“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Matthew 28:19

The resurrected Jesus uttered this holy mandate before he ascended into heaven. He longed for the disciples to take what they had learned about Jesus and share it with the world.

Jesus longs for us to do the same today. We have experienced Jesus and experienced life change. Instead of reveling in that transformation, we are—like the disciples—to share it in the world.

Jesus didn’t ask his disciples to start programs. He didn’t encourage them to build buildings. Instead, he gave them a mandate based on what they knew and had experienced. Jesus commanded them to tell people about forgiveness of sins and living with him as Lord, just as he had.

No matter where you find yourself in life today, you have the same opportunity to carry out the Great Commission. Pray that God would show you whom to disciple and then do so with prayer and joy.

Lord, your mandate is straightforward: love people one at a time and share what I’ve learned about you. Please help me, amen.
