Beautiful Word Devotional #156

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

Revelation 3:20

To be with Jesus, we simply need to listen, open, and eat.

First, we must have quiet space in our lives so we can listen for Jesus’ knocking and actually hear it. We won’t open a door if we don’t know that someone is there. So we listen and keep alert.

Second, when we hear the knocking of Jesus, we have a choice. We can let him keep knocking, or we can open the door to our heart, to our life, and let him in.

Last, we need to spend time with Jesus, the kind of unrushed time that can happen when we eat a meal with a friend. Don’t ever hesitate to invite him for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Choose today to listen, open, and eat.

Lord, keep my ears ready to hear your voice, my hand quick to open the door, and my heart ready to enjoy conversation with you as we linger over a meal, amen.
