Beautiful Word Devotional #154

When Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

1 John 3:2

Right now we ache to be like Jesus. We are bewildered when we fail—when we sin—but that won’t always be the case! When we finally see Jesus face-to-face, we will have been utterly and completely transformed—free from sin, insecurity, worry, and fear.

In the meantime, we choose to have hope. We choose, for instance, to remember that the trials in our lives are temporary, for they will no longer matter on the other side of the grave. The pain we feel and the tears we cry characterize our earthly life. In our eternal home, there will be no more tears. No more weeping. No more worries. Instead we will know a life of God’s love as we live in perfect fellowship with Him.

Thankfully, until that time, God graciously allows us glimpses of Jesus, and the light of his presence with us shines brighter during the dark times. Let your glimpses of Jesus remind you that something greater and better is on the heavenly horizon.

Lord, please help me catch a glimpse of you today, a glimpse of the glory that’s to come, amen.
