From all nations people came to listen to Solomon’s wisdom.

1 Kings 4:34

Wisdom was a hot commodity in Solomon’s day, and that reality has not changed. We still flock to wise people, particularly when we face a big decision. The truth is, none of us knows everything there is to know. That’s one reason we need one another.

After all, it’s important to seek out people who are wise. Who are the Solomons in your life? Who has walked a long road of consistent obedience to God? Who has weathered life’s storms with grace? Who is the kind of person you’d like to become? Take a moment today to list those people. Then pray and ask God to show you how to approach one for their counsel.

Also, become the kind of person people seek out when they need counsel. You gain wisdom by gleaning from other people’s words, by reading Proverbs, and by learning from your own mistakes. It’s absolutely possible, with God’s help, to become someone whom people go to for wisdom.

Lord, please place wise people in my life when I need guidance—and make me the kind of person people seek for wisdom, amen.
