Your Promised Land - All In, All Yours: Stepping into God's Peace and Promises
Your Promised Land
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9, NLT)
“For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding Yes! And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.” (1 Corinthians 1:20, NLT)
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” (John 10:10, NLT)
Are you standing at the edge of the unknown wondering, Where do I go from here? Good news: You’re not the first to ask that question—the Israelites beat you to it.
As they stood on the brink of an overflowing river, gazing across the waters at a wall they couldn’t pass, with the shadow of their enemies looming over them, I’m sure they too wished life came with an app giving real-time updates on road conditions and with ChatGPT cluing them in to the quickest route. Or how about Ubers to catch the first ride back when things start to go south?
But don’t miss it: No matter what stood in their way, this strip of land ahead was called the Promised Land because it was promised to them, and we in Christ are guaranteed our own territory as well. With “the kingdom of God . . . in your midst” (Luke 17:21, NASB), we don’t have to wait until heaven to experience it.
We are given new life in Christ this very second.
We are promised the free, abundant life in Him today.
We get to dwell in His promises presently.
We get to pray that His will would be done and that He would use us to bring heaven to this world right now.
No matter what stands before us, we too get to possess the land.
Even in the darkest nights, when we’re stressed over the next step, tired from the enemy’s attacks, and losing sight of the promises, it’s here we must remember the best news of all: We already know the Way. Jesus is the most faithful Guide, who has gone before us, will never leave us, and arms us with His power and victory.
- “I will give you every place where you set your foot” (Joshua 1:3, NIV).
- “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life” (1:5).
- “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you” (1:5).
Are you picking up what God’s dropping down? The land is yours. Enemies and trials lie ahead, sure, but victory is certain. “All of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘Yes!’” (2 Corinthians 1:20, NLT). Like the Israelites, He’s given us the title to the territory—but it’s on us to possess it. We only need to follow Jesus, take Him up on His promises, and enjoy a lifetime supply of His milk and honey, victory, progress, peace, and closeness with God. You up for it?
Today’s travel tip: When we don’t know the way, we need only follow the Way.
