A Spectacle Of Glory #56

A Spectacle of Glory #56

Read: Isaiah 32:17

Pain medications are a mixed blessing. Some remedies ease the immediate bite of pain, but they open the door to anxiety. Others create scary claustrophobia or wire-tight, jangled nerves. The best remedy, however, is one that reduces stress and anxious feelings. Isaiah has helpful counsel: “The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.” Nothing quiets pain better than a body at rest and a soul at peace. God’s Word says this will be the result when you pursue right living. Keep in step with the Spirit, practice genuine gratitude, keep the door to prayer cracked open, get into your Bible, and give God’s love to others. In short, seek out God and His ways, and the effect will be quietness of mind, heart, body, and soul.

Father, I’ve experienced anxiety again and again. Your Word says, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”a When I see Your face through my pain, the stress slips away and the tangles in my anxious thoughts unravel. Yes, it still hurts, but I don’t face that hurt alone. I have You, the living God, to bring me peace.

a Isaiah 26:3, NKJV.
