Today’s Scripture describes Mary’s reaction when the shepherds told her about the angels’ announcement of Jesus’ birth: She “treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” It’s not the only time she responded that way. As Jesus grew older, there were other occasions when Mary treasured and pondered the meaning behind her son’s life and ministry. Mary leaves us a great example. In the same way, we can treasure Christ when we rally our memory, affections, and intellect to understand just how supremely precious He is! When we weigh who Christ is and what He has done, not only are we enriched, but He is glorified as well. So train your memory to treasure up everything about Christ you have felt, known, or believed. Ponder the time you first heard of Him, and consider all He has done for you. Then you’ll discover how precious Jesus really is.

Lord and King, what better way could I occupy my thoughts? I need a thought transplant today. I’ve been pondering the wrong things! I’ve been treasuring less worthy, less precious speculations and fantasies. With the help of Your Holy Spirit, I want to consider You in a fresh, new, worthy way. Please renew my thoughts today!
