A Spectacle Of Glory #347

A Spectacle of Glory #347

Read: Hebrews 4:12-13

A young Christian named Jennifer once confessed, “Joni, I can’t believe how often I keep doing the wrong things. Honestly, the Lord must be so upset, so disillusioned, with me!”

I told her not to worry. I said, “Jen, the Lord can’t be disillusioned with you, because He has absolutely no illusions about you. He knows full well the depths of your depravity, and He’s not at all surprised by your sin.” I could tell my words ruffled her feathers. But the sooner Jennifer stops “performing to impress God” and accepts His wise and good estimate of her life, the quicker she will grow in Christ. A sure sign of growth is knowing the dark sins of which you are capable, yet remembering you remain a glorious co-heir with Christ. If the Holy Spirit has made you aware of a sin, confess it to the Lord, turn away from it, and take a fresh grip on your eternal identity and destiny in Christ.

Yes, Lord, You know my sins and failures and see through my outward show. I may be able to deceive others, but never You. I confess and freely admit my transgressions today. Wash me clean, and put my feet back on the only road I want to travel, following You through life into eternity.
