A Spectacle Of Glory #320
A Spectacle of Glory #320
Read: 1 Peter 1:16
It was only our high school madrigal choir singing a Gregorian chant, but the haunting harmonies of the minor keys swelled my heart to the point of breaking. I had never been possessed by such glorious music before. The next week, I practiced my alto range and signed up for the choir. The joy, for me, was complete only if I could share in the beauty and power of participating in it. In today’s Scripture, the Lord declares, “Be holy, because I am holy.”
When the Holy Spirit awakens the heart of a person to please the Lord—to delight in His holiness—an urgent and aching desire is born, not only to behold that holiness, as from a distance, but also to participate in it. We’re not just listening to the music; we’re making it. We want to join in. And in our Lord Jesus, because of Him, we can.
Lord, there is nothing in all the world like the assurance of forgiven sins. A clean heart. A clean conscience. A fresh start in my walk with You. I want to walk in that freshness today. I know—and You know—how prone I am to stumble. But I want to walk in the Light as far and as long as I can.
