A Spectacle Of Glory #316

Read: Psalm 119:92

In today’s Scripture, the psalmist declares, “If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.” God may not have kept you from affliction, but He has kept you from perishing in your affliction. After all, you’re still here! Think of the many times you have staked your life on God’s Word and didn’t even realize it. Every morning He awakens you with grace, washes away your sins, and grants you salvation. He has given you a home in heaven, escape from hell, and a purpose for living. He works everything for your good and grants you the honor of bearing His name and representing His character. God’s Word tells you all this, creating delight at the very center of who you are. Once you delight in His ways, you’ll be even quicker to follow them when facing affliction. He will keep you from perishing—until that bright, beautiful day when He takes you home.

How many times, dear Lord, have I turned to Your Word and found hope, life, light, perspective, and the courage to go on. I’ve been on the edge of despair, and Your Word pulled me back from the brink. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit, who brings Your words to memory at just the right moment.
